Never got around to playing...

What's your opinion about the game and if you had to compare it to another game, which would it be and why? Maybe I'll nab it off amazon or something.

Sort of like SWAT 3.

Just kidding.

Actually, it's a lot like Rainbow Six Vegas, but I personally enjoyed it more than that series.

Very cool. I played Vegas on the 360 but I'm not a fan of console shooters so I didn't finish it. I could tell it would have been awesome on the PC though.

I enjoyed the game but hated the moments where guns would magically disappear and preclude me from getting perfect ratings...

Yeah, SWAT 4 does a great job as a tactical shooter. Of course, whenever I play with friends there's the inevitable non-lethal attacks on allies. "Hey buddy, why don't you look around that corner while I...TASER YOU IN THE BACK! LOLOLOLOL!"

I def recommend you playing this...I still own a copy. Matter of fact I owned the first one and fell in love with the series. It had many different variations...SWAT 1 was video based...2 was a top down game. SWAT 4 was my personal favorite and very technical.

Best part was actually handcuffing, having full control over a team, and being able to pepper spray people with paintballs!!! Yeah i said it, i kept shooting them when they were down! TAKE THAT TAKE THAT!!

Ehem... sorry...

Totally worth every penny.

I highly recommend SWAT 4 to anyone who likes tactical shooters. The level design and randomised elements make for a lot replayability, and it rewards creative and non-violent approaches.

You know, it's on Direct2Drive. SWAT 4 Gold for $20. I've got the Gold collection on disc but since I'm thousands of miles away it was worth buying it again.

And the game is AWESOME.

It's a small-scenario tactical "shooter" (though it feels best if you don't have to shoot at all) where you take down criminals in a way more personal environment. Enemies feel like people; you look for faces. The perfect mission is one where nobody gets shot and minimum force is used. That's still an original concept in the FPS genre. It's the best of the SWAT games (which is saying much, because SWAT3 was fantastic), and very much worth playing.

I'd say it\'s superficially like RSV, but it\'s a true FPS; there\'s not a 3rd-person cover mechanic. It's much more room-to-room, in terms of pacing, and much more tense; firefights (in SP) aren't as drawn out. I'd compare it more to Rainbow 6: Raven Shield, except that you give commands in real-time.

The squad controls in SP are great, however, the atmosphere is amazing and I thought the non-lethal dimension in MP made it a lot of fun. Definitely worth picking up, even if MP is pretty much dead. If you can find a group to play MP, it's a blast. The escort mode is a lot of fun; I probably enjoyed playing escort on one map during beta almost as much as playing MP with the full version.

If you have never played Swat then nows the time. Its very affordable at present and I would say it has a unique gameplay. Its quite slow pacing game but very tactical with a choice 4 modes and now with a new mod that has been developed there are now a further 3 more modes to try on multiplayer. I have been playing this game for years and have met many people who have become friends through this game. Its awesome !

If you didnt play, you have to try. lot of people like love this game in first view :] (about multiplayer) but pls dont be surprised if it will be too hard when you will join some PRO server with veteran players playing it 4 years and will be too hard.

I play it for ages and in VIP mode, where every new round on maps I saw hundred times is different than every round before. That is the magic of this game for me :]

przemyslawbak: know nicely, that somebody think similar. And another advantage of good servers: with admin-mods & UAC2 cheaters have real short career.
Btw: Pro ? Pls don't give scare to fresh players Imho majority current player it 'faithful fans', since 4 yrs old demo
