Who is Your Favorite Mythological Deity? It's a tough question for me. I\'m partial to the Greek pantheon, but at the end of the day it's comprised mostly of a-holes. Zeus is a mad pimp until you get to the parts where he's boning his sisters (LOL, Ancient Greeks) and getting down as an animal or a shower of golden light (WTF). Anyway, I tend to reach for the C- and D-listers. Depending on who you ask, Typhon and Echidna may or may not be considered deities, but are certainly the source of all the sweet monsters (other than jealous b-word goddesses). That is pretty gnarly. If they're not, though, I think the Erinyes (deities of vengeance and the anger of the dead) are rockin' it. I'd totally buy them some Kettle One and sodas. If I must go A-list, Hades is the one. He's pretty creative (re: punishments and construction of the Underworld), logical, and he\s a lady-thriller.
I'm kind of a fan of Loki, too, but that\'s mostly due to his portrayal in the Marvel Universe. I'm into mischief and stirring the pot, and he\'s the god of pot-stirring. Sometimes I think he could sign my paychecks. Hela is also pretty sweet in and out of Marvel context. A goddess of the dead is a pretty novel idea.
By far, my favorite mythological deity is Gozer the Gozerian , also known as Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar, and The Traveler. Sure, we all know Tiamat is the true Sumerian god(dess) of destruction and, er, traveling, but deities are given the power the people allow them to have. Following that rationale, Gozer is the new Sumerian deity of D&T, and Tiamat is just a unique monster encounter and popular fantasy art figurehead.
Sorry, Tiamat, but second place gets a set to steak knives! (And no art, because I think the board limits how much you can post.) Congratulations to all of my favorite mythological deities! Who are yours? |

It has to be Cronus, Kronos or Cronos (Ancient Greek Κρόνος, Krónos) was the leader and the youngest of the first generation of Titans, divine descendants of Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky. He overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age, until he was overthrown by his own sons, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, and imprisoned in Tartarus. |

Or in Chinese Mythology, the JADE-EMPEROR JADE-EMPEROR: Supreme God of Chinese Folk Religion, the JADE-EMPEROR is Ruler of Heaven, Creator of the Universe, member of the SAN-QING, and Lord of the Imperial Court. Starting at the bottom by creating the Universe, he helped YUAN-SHI-TIAN-ZONG bring order to the cosmos. Working his way to the top, he spent a billion aeons contemplating his Holy Navel before finally achieving a state of the most amazingly perfect Godliness. |

I love the fact that Zeus is the pimp of the universe, so he's probably my favorite deity. Also love Gilgamesh, even though he's only a half-god. |

They're all cool, but I think Ra is my favorite. I always hoped he was real when I was younger, so I could keep him as a pet. |

I have a friend who has an all white bull terrier with a huge snout named Anubis. He will bean you in the crotch if you're not careful.

Who's mythology? Nyarlathotep. A travelling showman who tears down people's perceptions of reality and their place in the cosmos, AND a world-eating star-spanning demon from beyond space. What's not to like? |

The more I learn about Kali, the more I like her. Maybe most of us learned about her first in Indiana Jones, but she was given a pretty bad rep there and there's a lot more to it |

If he doesn't allow it, I sure as hell will. You just became my favorite IG staff member for that reference, Sarah! If we're going by real gods, I've gotta say Dionysus. God of wine, theatre, and fertility. Anyone happen to notice his appearance in the Persona games? He had Shakespeare quotes all over his body; which I thought was a nice touch. And if we're going by 'game gods' I'd say Bahamut ZERO. |

I love ancient mythology so it's hard to pick just one. My favorite pantheon is Greek. Out of those I guess my favorite is Hephaestus. Every one loves a gimp! Technically, the Valkyries from Norse mythology aren't gods, but they're still pretty friggin great. |

I am a big fan of Persephone as I was given that name as a nickname in high school. I am not really sure how that went down... In any case I am a fan of mythology at large. |
