The Movie Thread

I just returned from seeing The Book of Eli tonight. It was pretty good. I think I need a break from post apocalyptic movies though. I saw The Road and then The Book of Eli in the same week.

What movies have you watched recently?

The last movie I saw was Avatar, in 3D. I wasn't really expecting to find the story that great, and I was right, but I loved the 3D. I'm very much looking forward to Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3 this year, they are going to be awesome in 3D.

Also saw The Road and thought it was great, though I wonder how it holds up for someone who has not read the book.

Still haven't seen Avatar though that is on the list for next week.

I liked this. After I saw it, I did some reading since it leaves some things unanswered and I wanted to know more about the aftermath. It turns out it's pretty controversial on all sides (direct, challenger, defender, referee, and a third record holder not featured) and a new movie is being made about it. The new movie may be a scripted retelling of the events; it may be a follow-up to see how the first documentary affected their lives and rivalry. The whole mess is pretty fascinating.

I just saw Book of Eli as well, and really liked it. It had a samaria/western vibe to it. I want to see Youth in Revolt(I love the book) and Crazy Horse.

I went to see Book of Eli and thought it was really good. I was hoping to see Crazy Heart but I would have to hop on the train and head to Boston since that is the closest place that is showing it.

It wasn't that bad at all. Was much better than what I expected. The advertisement did it no justice whatsoever.

No way. I'm pretty outgoing about Avatar's mediocrity.
