The Dishwasher: Dead SamuraiJust wanted to let everyone know that hadn't noticed The Dishwasher is now a deal of the week on xbox live and for only 5 dollars it is an amazing deal. I picked it up and am very pleased with it so far. It is created by Ska Studios which is essentially made up of one guy for the most part (James Silva). The game is an amazing accomplishment with its mixture of graphics, gameplay and at times intense finishing moves. I would recommend at least grabbing the demo to see if you like it! |

The first post has a large avatar but the other post looks small. Also I noticed this I may pick it up too. Of course I'm going to try the demo first. |

I tried the demo yesterday and got sort of an ehh feeling from it. Once I purchased it though it appears to be more involved than I first thought and I am enjoying it. I already had some points so I just used them on this game. It is certainly worth 5 dollars though. I am a big fan of the art style especially. The fighting seemed to be just button mashing too at first but not too far in I noticed myself getting my butt kicked if I didn't at least put some strategy into what I did so it is pretty fun. I have so many arcade games I have wanted to purchase I thought this would be a good place to start back up again (Castle Crashers was my first - Loved it) . |

I've been thinking of trying the demo since it's the Deal of the Week (I think that's only for Gold members--I've yet to meet a non-gold member with a 360, but it may be worth noting to any of you 3rd world 360 livers). As for the game, I'm too spoiled by titles like Shadow Complex or the simple-yet-deep Castle Crashers. I don't get a sense from this demo that this game evolves into that kind of depth. I'd love to hear more impressions from you (and anyone else) as you progress deeper into the game. I can't download it until at least tomorrow either way. I have a pretty strict rule about gaming early in the week. I'm not allowed any new marketplace or PSN titles until after my workshop on Wednesdays. (Although I did buy Freedom Force and FFV3R yesterday on Steam to show some love back to Irrational). I keep hoping that Trials HD will be on sale soon because I won't pay 15 bucks for it, but I'm addicted to the demo. I won't hijack this thread asking about it, but I think I will start an XBox Live Arcade/PSN thread later. |

I have a long list of arcade games that I have been waiting to become the deal of the week lol. How is Shadow Complex? I played the demo and it was pretty fun but I didn't know if that would carry all the way through. |

Shadow Complex is AMAZING, especially if you're into Metroid games. It's that same kind of exploration/action thing that Metroid does so well. |

Good to hear the glowing remarks, Shadow Complex is probably my next purchase off the arcade. I only wish they would make it a deal of the week though! As far as Dishwasher I am about 4-5 levels in (about a third of the way through the game I believe) and here is what I am thinking so far: - Gameplay is fun but I do not play button mashers much so I am only able to handle the game in half hour chunks lol. - Depth wise its tough you have a decent amount of different moves but in reality you only use about 5. The part that has more strategy is which enemies you decide to focus on. You are often attacked by 2-3 different types of enemies at once so you will need to decide who is the biggest threat to take them out first so they do not do too much damage. The other thing that you need to remember is how to finish enemies off you can go with pressing B or Y and if you press the one that the game tells you to press you get health/magic along with the money you usually get. If you do not do this you will not survive the level ( I am playing on the highest default difficulty currently I would imagine on easy you can get away without it ) - The Boss battles are pretty fun but after a few minutes they have been pretty simple to figure out so far. A few of the them have actually just been huge versions of regular enemies and it really even looks like the just enlarged them because the quality looks reduced which was a bit disappointing. - In between levels you have a short movie real flowing by for you to read explaining the story which cosmetically looks very nice. It does not appear to be the type of game to focus much on the narrative though. - The different weapons are pretty fun and I only have 2 new ones so far. In the images I saw a chainsaw and guns so I would imagine that when I get further into the game the combat should get more interesting. As of right now I have Meat Cleavers (Fast, Low Strength), long sword (slow, powerful), dual scythes (medium for both) so far and I usually use the Cleavers just because I prefer the quick weapons but the long sword has the magical ability to allow you to teleport through the map which becomes very handy. - If your into button mashers but like a little more strategy involved (at least at higher difficulties) I would certainly recommend it. If you are so so on them like I usually am I would still recommend it this week due to being half price. The combat is intense so in small intervals the game is loads of fun. So far I would recommend it but you only have a week to buy it half off so I wanted to give a mini review for anyone interested. I will be sure to give some final thoughts when I do finish it if any feelings have changed. |

I'll just say the demo didn't impress me at all. When I got to the end of the demo I really had no desire to keep playing so I don't think I'll be picking this up after all. I think its just not my type of game. |

Shadow Complex probably makes my top ten value games of 2009. I got it during the week that it was on sale and I'd have gladly paid full price. I wound up beating it twice. This reminds me, I need to finally add some of you guys to my XBox Live buddy list so that I can marvel at your achievements and ridicule you for playing Kung Fu Panda--no wait--I'm the one who played Kung Fu Panda... hmm, don't worry, the minute I found out it was Activision I tossed it across the room. By the way, anyone here playing Borderlands? I beat it pre-DLC and now I want to buy it and get the DLC. However, I'd have more fun if there was someone to loot with. |

I've got Borderlands, haven't played it in a while but the General Knoxx DLC was pretty good. |

Aliborio, I think the level cap thing is like that because, of course, the game is meant to "start" on your second play through. That's the play through I still haven't finished because I rented it--but now that the price has dwindled to around 40 bucks, I can't help but be tempted--it would help alleviate the cost of DLC. |
