Banksy in BostonSince Irrational is based in Boston, check out this new Banksy piece on Essex street in Chinatown. It would totally make my day to know that somebody up there saw this in person here's a photo of it |

This is the first I've heard of him, and now I'm reading up on him. Both he and this particular piece are amazing. |

I've seen some of his work before. For some reason I thought he was in the UK. Unless he travels. |

Yeah, I saw that (not in person, unfortunately). I should take a drive down next weekend and seek them out. So what generally happens to his work? Are they left out or eventually taken down? |

Whether his work is painted over or not depends on the city and/or the owner of the building (sometimes the owner protects it with plexiglass instead of destroying it, cos' Banksy's are worth lots of money). Some people jackhammer out the wall and keep it. Otherwise it'll might last awhile. Hope you find em, they're better in person |

Yep! I caught the one on Essex Street. I had heard that it was up and had to scope it out. As to whether it's still up, I can't say; and as for the other piece: not sure where that is. It could be anywhere, really. Good stuff. Andrew Marathas |

I'll be checking that one out, for sure! Speaking of the idea of Banksys going for a lot of money: I remember watching a video of a bunch of guys hammering out a slab of crude concrete with a jack and lifting it on to the bed of a dingy truck. It was incredible. Heck, I'd do the same. Who wouldn't? In any event, Banksy rocks. I still remember the news reels covering his invasion of the Tate. Priceless... Andrew Marathas |

Also, I should mention (and this is slightly off-topic, but still great): if you're a fan of Banksy's work, you should definitely check out a few other artists. Jeff Soto, originally from Riverside, CA, is fun. He gave a lecture at my school some years ago. His work is fresh and inspiring and ultimately something to look at. Dave Kinsey is somewhat reminiscent of Shepard, but has a really great, personal flair to his work. Check them both out, if you haven't. You won't be sorry! Andrew Marathas |
