Suspicious Letters From 2KSo as everyone may or may not know some of us die hard 2k followers received some strange letters in the mail. Since this is part of the family I was wondering if anyone here has received anything? Some High Res Images (sorry if takes a while to load) click for full size. Here is the letter circulating. Best I can tell is it is from 901 MacArthur Blvd NW, Washington, DC 20010. Since we are fairly smart bunch here figured we could try and solve this mystery. |

Because everyone who received correspondence from SitS (Bioshock 2) site are the ones receiving the letters, as well as all the moderators (myself included) from the 2K games message boards. |

ohhh ok it relates to Bioshock 2 gotcha. Sadly I have not played it yet so I didn't get the reference. I ordered it off Amazon and am still waiting for the copy ;/ It certainly does seem to be hinting towards a third game in the series but I would be very surprised to see information come this soon. |

Hi there FTRapture! I received a letter as well but did not participate in the Mark Meltzer mail in. I find this to be a very interesting campaign. |

Whoa! Seriously? How did 2k get your addy? Did you get a "thank you" gift for pics, or something? Also, I think that this is a viral marketing campaign for Irrational's (super awesome mega terrific) mystery game. Why? Judging from the evidence, I'd say it's for Irrational's Mystery game. Why? The stuff in the letters and stuff hasn't been seen in Bioshock or Bioshock 2. Also, a viral marketing campaign would be a GREAT way to announce a game that we know nothing about. |

From what I've seen on the new Viral site, it seems less and less related to Bioshock. My best guess is these mailings have something to do with Irrational games. Now I wonder how I can get on that mailing list @Katherine: How do you suppose you received a letter if you didn't mail in to mark? |

It's obvious that everyone, even those receiving letters and materials, don't know what it's leading to yet. As SO many people have said before me, it's a waiting game. Let's at least PRETEND to be patient. I want to add that people that didn't write in to Mark Meltzer are getting mail because they participated in another way. Elizabeth from 2K requested that people send in photos from any Splicer's Unite events, and or photos of themselves dressed up as splicers. A lot of those photos are up on 2K's facebook page. In return, Elizabeth asked for your address and sent a mask to you with a letter thanking you. In this case, a few of those people seem to have gotten mail. I got almost everything in the mail from Sits, as well as the mask for sending in photos from events, but didn't get a letter, but the chances are, my mail wasn't forwarded from my old address. I'm still insanely excited to see where this leads and to jump in if I get a chance. |

If it is irrationals mystery game then why does rockstar appear on the whois unless it's a calabo we know nothing about I remain skeptical. I'd also like to know how Katherine received something having never mailed anything into Mark Meltzer, you could be the key to finding out who's making this game. |

Hi Rapture. I made a video related to Splicers Unite and also sent in photos. I think that is how my address got into the mix. I am a tried and true BioShock fan, promise! |

I received my follow up package today, however it is top secret so not sure what to do. It mentions in the letter Operation Hermes, Googleing that term pulls up a website for Icarus very suspicious. http://www.icarusinitiative.org/solutions/hermes.html |

Yeah it is, the thread about the letters over at 2k magically got moved into XCOM General discussion. I think that is about as confirmed as we can get. I love the X-COM series, but was hoping it was Irrational's hands at work. |

Well at least that settles things, I never played the XCOM series but I am aware that many people see to be angry because of the switch to first person. |

I played the original: UFO, and apocalypse XCOM. I was hoping they would stay true to their roots with RTS mixed with turn based. I love a great FPS so this is no big deal. What is a big deal to me....my cpu is crappy, and I play on console now...PS3. It's coming to xbox and pc. I'll never play it. If a port comes out, it will be long after I have forgotten about X-COM. I like the viral marketing idea. I hope they get some real coverage, and not rely solely on Bioshock SITS fans. |

I am sure it will come out on PS3 at some point the only problem is like you said it will probably happen awhile later. I would expect it to happen 6 months to a year after much like Bioshock. |

Ahem you know there is this great other thing going on as well called Operation Apollo. It is an ARG within the ARG and, if you feel like it, you can check it out. It is set up like Something in the Sea; that is to say you go to the site, look at the room, and wait for more to happen. It changes daily, mailings going out in the next week, it is mounting up to be a very fun event. |
