Did anyone love the voice acting of Bioshock? When I played Bioshock for the first time, I was impressed with the design and presentation first, but as soon as people and characters started speaking, you can tell irrational games was focused on making the words of individuals believable. Even the simple voices of NPC's that you fight were just a treat to listen to. Believe it or not, Bioshock not only made me love games a lot again, but it inspired me to do voices. I have spent time and classes and have become good with my voice. While I am not professional, it is something I want to do. Thank You, Ken Levine and the rest of the Bioshock crew. |

Yeah some games have voice work that just really draw your attention. The audio logs and sound design of Shock 2 is a HUGE part of that game and its appeal for me (and i suspect most others). Shock 2 made me want to get into game audio. Which turns out to be a hard gig to land haha |

I thought the voice acting was generally great. A few of the characters with accents aren't the best (was the Australian guy just one of the employees of 2K Australia?), they seemed to be too pre-occupied with getting the accent right to actually voice act well. Atlas and Ryan are brilliant, and Suchong is the dodgiest. I'm not even sure what his accent is supposed to be, he seemed to go for 'generic foreigner'. |

The game is essentially a masterpiece in every way, voice acting is not an exception. |

Definitely top notch. Some of the accents were a little over-the-top, though. (Wasn't a huge fan of Fontaine's thick Bronx accent: You'd think someone who has mastered disguising his voice would find a way to ditch his grating New Yorkiness. Could be worse, I guess. Could be a Boston accent. Heh.) Atlas was the real star of the show, though. Anyone know the actor? "John Ahlin" is at the top of the credits list, and he isn't Fontaine or Ryan, so I'm guessing that's him. Can't find any info at all about him other than his theater credits; I can't even tell if he's actually British. He certainly looks a lot different than what I expected... |

Pretty good overall I'd say; Australian one didn't sound weird to me. o_o |

Lol. His accent was fine, because I'm guessing he was actually Australian, but his voice acting was dodgy. |

Very creepy and believable voice acting. Kept me searching for those audio-diaries. |

What I really loved was not just the quality of the voice acting and the intrigue of the characters that were voiced, but the entire atmosphere created by having such a rich amount of sound. From listening to the demented conversations of splicers unaware of your presence, or the authoritative messages to the populace from Andrew Ryan, or even the vending machines! Then add the audio diaries and you have so much to hear! I can't wait to play through again with a full surround sound system that's just gotta be amazing. |

Loved it. Very believable. It made Rapture that much more real. The audio diaries, PA announcements, and splicer mono/dialogue ("Jesus loves me this I know...") helped establish the mood perfectly. An outstanding achievement in my opinion. |

Armin Shimerman's performance is one of the greatest I've ever er... heard? Where voice acting really succeeds though is with the splicers themselves. One can see that they made an effort to illustrate that each splicer was, at one time, a human being. It definately isn't archetypal insane "chef brian" dialogue and really makes each one you encounter almost tragic in a way. Each one still has an identity even when they've crossed over the threshold. Especially the haunting way fishermen sing "Jesus Loves Me." |

The audio diaries were definitely a key factor. I loved being able to dwell myself within the characters that were involved in Rapture. Fontaine's voice was especially fitting. No doubt Bioshock had AAA voice acting. |

The real question on Bioshock is. What did you not love about it? This game oozes awesome. Seriously. I've bought it twice. Xbox and Ps3. Both times stuff was dripping outta the case. Know what that dripping was. Pure friggin AWESOME!! |

The voice acting really helped to solidify the game as one of the best in my opinion. The team did a great job making sure the atmosphere was correct for this game and the voice acting is a key component for this. |

Big fan of the voice acting, the little sisters were the perfect combination of off putting and endearing. |

I agree, all of the voice acting was pretty spot on. Lady Smith is probbaly my favorite splicer; though Baby Jane cane make me cry; it's awful. |

The acting was really good, and not just the main cast but the supporting cast too. They conveyed a sense that were were actually in Rapture recording their messages which is a feat. Most times when listening to static dialogue I feel its disconnected from the situation, but not so with Bioshock. Just another detail they paid great attention to like the rest of the game. |

Bioshock straight-up sets the bar for immersive audio in games. I remember feeling positively permeated by the environment the moment I climbed into that towering obelisk at game-start. This feeling I attribute largely to the sound design; finally here was a game whose audio was on par with the visual mimesis successfully achieved in Bioshock and many other modern titles. Awesome, awesome work. |

I usually don't "notice" the voice acting unless its terrible. So the fact that Bioshock kept me immersed without me being like "wow that voice actor sucks" is pretty good. When I actually think about it I can't think of a single voice actor that was bad or that I think they could have done better with so overall I think its one of the best voice acted games out. |

The game was all about the atmosphere and immersiveness. All aspects, including voice acting (which tends to kill immersiveness in most games) worked amazingly well together. It was as good if not better than System Shock 2. |

The voice acting, dialogue, and character emotion was amazing!!! I personally think the overall audio in Bioshock is the best I've heard in a game, ever! Without the visuals, the sound alone makes you feel that you are there, in a city under water. It was just amazing!!! Great audio, great visuals, great game, great developer! |

Truth be told, I played the game 2 times through before even realizing how great the voice acting does. I think I didn't realize it because of how comfortable I was with the acting. It wasn't horrid enough to draw my attention away from the game. |

So I heard someone say that Ken Levine was the voice actor for the Circus of Values (maybe Ammo Bandito as well?) Can anyone confirm or deny this? I for one am skeptical. |
