Bioshock's Water Effects were the best!Okay, who's with me? In my opinion Bioshock had some of , if not the best water effects in video games! The part that always comes to mind is when you descend into Rapture and you're walking across the underwater corridor to entrance and the plane crashes through it. ..............EPIC! If yall can think of any other games with cool water effects feel free to list them. Much Love and Respect!!!.........Gleefully counting down the days til Bioshock 2 release! |

I've played through Bioshock quite a few times, and the introduction is always the most visually stunning. After Welcome to Rapture, the setting is defined, and water is never used as significantly. Sure there are the windows, and the leaking pipes, and the puddles constantly reminding the player of their surroundings, but there aren't any more tunnel collapses or floods. Of course, Bioshock was using a heavily modified Unreal 2.5, so complex water events, especially with any inclusion of combat, would be costly. Still, I'm surprised that the only swimming that occurs is in the first cut scene. |

The water in Battlefield 1943 looked really good. When I think of the water in BioShock, I'm thinking about the opening when you first come up out of the water, and you have to paddle to the lighthouse, it all looks really good. |

All I know is that the first time I fired up Bioshock for my PS3 I sat there for a good 30 seconds before I realized, "Wait a second--I'm in control--I have to swim out of here." I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who experienced that. |

I am not really surprised they have some of the best water effects in the industry. The game focuses on the underwater world of Rapture if they weren't realistic it could really pull some people out of the game. I will agree though Bio 1/2 have some amazing looking water. Still to this day after playing them for so long in some areas I will just look around in awe. |

As everyone's said the initial scene in bioshock 1 was amazing, I remember downloading the demo and playing through that part and going WOW! that's amazing. One of the first "WOW!" moments I experienced on my 360. And they're just as good if not better in bioshock 2. I love when you're walking down a leaky hallway and you see drips on your helmet and hear the drops hitting it. |

Let's not forget:there are moments spent underwater in Bioshock 2 that also take advantage of the water, but no Bioshock water moment will ever be as amazing as watching the walkway flooding in the first 15 minutes of Bioshock 1. |

Ok ok at the time bioshocks water was the best they way that they used bsb trees to use the solver for the ripples was amazing, but the lack of transparentsy in the water that had real time reflections was a bit of putting, looked more like liquid glass the water. I built a shader for a mod project that could do real time and had transparency using unreal. And then when I saw the water in bio2 I was hoping that they would take onboard some of the new tech in terms of real time geo based ripples but it was the same water from |

And yes the other water effects were amazing, but some times it was weird when you could walk through a sheet of water and it wouldn't bounce off you |

Haha, I'm one of those people too! It was a mixture of both, "This looks so amazing" and, "Am I supposed to move?" Haha, good times. |
