BioShock 2: Please read before posting

With the release of BioShock 2 this past week I'd like to remind everyone that Irrational Games was not involved with the development. Our friends at 2k Marin lead the development effort for BioShock 2.

Feel free to discuss BioShock and BioShock 2 here.

For the latest information on BioShock 2 direct from 2k Marin go to http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/

Thanks

Found it kind of funny that you guys felt the need to point this out. :p I understand though since Bioshock 1 was you guy's baby.

I have yet to play the second one but I'm looking forward to it. I loved the first one and I suppose more of the same can't be completely terrible right?

Thanks for reminding me about that. I was going to post a question about a level design decision, but I posted it at 2K instead!

Bio 2's story didn't grab me by the nuts quite as hard as the original did. I really enjoyed it, but it didn't feel like much of a step forward.

I just wished you guys worked on the game..

2K Marin tried, and succeeded in creating A game but not THE game. Where Bioshock was a new concept on its own Bioshock 2 barely felt like A game or even a sequel..

No wonder Kevin Levine keeps repeating in having nothing to do with Bioshock 2.

But i'll be honest the game was enjoyable, and i felt happy bin given the chance to return to Rapture one more time. But halfway the game began to feel so repetitive..

I wished you guys did develop it, although you never planned on a sequel.

It's noteworthy, to me, that I feel the need to point out that even though BioShock 2 wasn't quite BioShock 1, it was still far better than most games. I'm not brown nosing or anything, I just really loved these games, and I'm not ashamed of the fact that I enjoyed the second one quite a lot, as well. =)

I have to agree with Levyathyn. Bioshock 1 had an amazing twist at the end and had a jaw dropping ending. Bioshock 2 was fun to play and I loved the new plasmids and tonics introduced into the game. The graphics were amazing in Bioshock 2 as they were in Bioshock 1 also. However, I felt the story line was a little cut and dry...

I hope we get to see Sophia Lamb's fate somewhere in Bioshock Infinite. The good ending I received after beating the game leaves many questions unanswered...

Although I agree that Bioshock 2 is not nearly as good as Bioshock, 2 is still criminally underrated.

I liked 2 more just for the simple fact that you could use both your gun and plasmids at the same time...it made killing in creative ways way easier...plus protecting the Little Sisters and fighting the big ones was really fun and brought something new to the game. oh yeah and hacking was way better cause you don't have to play pipes every minute! Not that I'm saying the first was horrible in comparison I enjoyed the story twist of the first one more.

There did seem to be more creative ways to set up for kills but between the big sister fights and all the harvesting that was sort of a necessity. I loved both games but Bio1 will always hold a special place.

Having played through both games multiple times... I'm going to defer to the story of the first BioShock and SOME of it's game mechanics.

I like the save feature of BioShock 1 as it allowed you to experiment with bosses and enemies etc.

However, I dug the little-sister portion of BioShock 2 as well as the ending cinematics. Regardless of which ending you earn, they all invoke a bittersweet feeling for both the characters and Rapture. With that said, I don't think the feeling is possible without the first game, hence my deference to BioShock as the better title

I liked both games very much. It's actually hard for me to decide which one I liked better. Bioshock, being the original will always be special to me. But I really enjoyed all the extra options Bioshock 2 added. I really liked how the option to kill or not kill important characters changed things. And I really liked that the big daddy battles for the little sisters were completely optional in this one. The storyline wasn't as complex as the fist game, but I rather liked the simplicity. Also, I think i fell in love with Eleanor
